General Studies GCSE

All students are taught General Studies GCSE which is examined by AQA (4760). It is taught through Skills for Life (SfL) and Spiritual and Moral Development (SMD) and consists of Citizenship, PSHE and RE and students receive 2 lessons per week.

There are 4 areas of study which are: 1) Political and Economic, 2) Social and Ethical, 3) Scientific and Technological and 4) Artistic and Cultural. Units will cover issues like, international organisations, human rights, legal rights, politics, environmental issues, health, individual responsibility, religion, morality, social diversity and censorship.

General Studies 100% exam-based and students sit two papers in the Summer of Year 11. Unit 1 is a Case Study worth 25% and Unit 2 includes multiple choice questions, short essay questions and long essay questions worth 75%.
